Although it’s not unusual for the hours to fly by and the workday to suddenly be over when you are working at a job that you absolutely love, the owners, certified BMW technicians, and other staff members at the HAUS make it a point to take a break throughout our busy work days and patronize many of the exceptional local spots on and near Ventura Boulevard. We support these neighboring businesses not only to keep our community thriving, but also because they happen to serve up the best food around. In fact, you’ll often find one, two, or a whole group of us enjoying lunch or picking up a take-home, to-go dinner from our favorite eateries. No one knows restaurants and their stand-out items on their menus better than loyal customers who frequent the locations. Here’s a look at some of the favorite foods at some of the favorite eateries of the folks here at the HAUS. Let us know if they’re your favorites, too!
Ping Pong
Josh’s go-to lunch item of choice at this popular Chinese eatery is the Hot Garlic Shrimp. The $9.25 lunch order comes with your choice of brown, white, or fried rice, or – if you aren’t in the mood for rice, you can opt for a serving of their daily soup. On the Ping Pong menu, there’s a red jalapeno graphic by this selection warning that it is spicy! So, if you love seafood and hot spicy seasoning, order what Josh orders. Offering delivery service seven days a week, and open Mondays through Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and Sundays at noon, Ping Pong is located at 12267 Ventura Boulevard.
Take Ten Deli & Grill
Stephen’s favorite item at this local eatery is the jam-packed Breakfast Burrito. It’s $7.95 and filling enough to enjoy alone or, if you’re really famished, you might consider ordering it with a side of hash browns, pancakes, or French toast! Offering delivery service five days a week and open Mondays through Fridays from 7:00 a.m. until 3:35 p.m., Take Ten is located at 15228 Ventura Boulevard.
Domingo’s Italian Deli
Steve “Monkee” admits that with so many mouth watering Italian dishes on the menu, it wasn’t easy choosing just one for his favorite. While he has tried (and enjoyed) pretty much everything on this authentic Italian deli’s menu, he most frequently goes back to the Eggplant Parmigiana Plate. For $9.99, this entrée is served with fresh eggplant, fresh marinara sauce, fresh mozzarella, and fresh parmigiana. Offering delivery service six days a week, this Italian deli is open Tuesdays through Sundays, and is located at 17548 Ventura Boulevard.
Bill’s Hamburgers
Glen’s “Cookie’s” all-time favorite local eatery is the famous 1965-established Bill’s Burgers roadside stand on Oxnard Street. Serving up what has been described in countless publications through the past 50+ years as the best burgers in all of Los Angeles, Glen’s lunch item of choice is, of course, a hamburger with mayo (as has always been recommended by the now 90-something year-old Bill)! Open Tuesdays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Bill’s Burgers is located at 14742 Oxnard Street.
PSY Street Kitchen
Tino V.’s local lunch spot of choice is PSY ~ a street kitchen taking a spin on the classic burger joint. Using locally-sourced produce, meats, and poultry that benefit the community of local farmers, every item on the PSY menu is as aesthetically-appealing as it is scrumptiously delicious. Tino’s regularly-ordered menu item is the popular freshly-made Kebab Burger! Open seven days a week (but Fridays only from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) PSY Street Kitchen is located at 15030 Ventura Boulevard.
