No matter how old you are, the magic of a spectacular holiday light display never loses its appeal. In LA, we’re fortunate enough to have some of the best displays in the country.
If you want to make this holiday season one to remember, plan a night out to visit one (or all!) of the following locations and create a new tradition you’ll love repeating year after year.
Enchanted: Forest of Light
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, you’ll love Enchanted: Forest of Light, held at Descanso Gardens. This one-of-a-kind interactive experience features an illuminated forest, fun sound effects, and ten illuminated installations that allow you to manipulate both the lights and sound. On select days there will also be live musical performances.
Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather as it will take you at least an hour to truly enjoy the mile-long walk. To make the day extra special, consider making dinner reservations at the garden’s Maple Restaurant or stop by the bar next door for a delicious cider before or after your adventure.
Enchanted: Forest of Light runs from now until January 5th. General admission tickets start at just $23.
LA Zoo Lights
A local favorite since 2014, LA Zoo Lights is sure to impress! This exciting display includes features like a disco-ball forest, giant glowing animals, glittering illuminated snowflakes, and a colorful, twinkling walk-through tunnel. This year’s display is bigger than ever and includes plenty of new additions as well as fan favorites. Make sure to bring your phone and selfie-sticks because there will be plenty of awesome photo ops!
There are also several opportunities to upgrade your visit, including photos with Santa, VIP experiences, overnight zoo adventures, and a holiday gift bazaar with unique handcrafted items and live music.
LA Zoo Lights runs until January 5th and adult tickets start at $14.95. Plan to spend 60 to 90 minutes enjoying this unforgettable experience.
The Grove Mall
The gorgeous Christmas tree at The Grove Mall rivals some of the largest in the country. Coming in at over 100 feet tall, it’s larger than the tree in New York City’s Rockefeller Center. It’s beautifully adorned with 15,000 lights and 10,000 ornaments and is something you have to see to believe.
While you’re at the mall, make sure to bring the kids by Santa’s Workshop where they can meet the big man himself and receive a keepsake photo. The Grove will also celebrate Hanukkah with a menorah lighting on December 29th.
Grand Park Winter Glow
Downtown’s Grand Park is making the holidays more exciting with its wide array of interactive displays. Winter Glow features 12-acres of art, projection, and lights. This year’s display spreads across Grand Avenue to the Music Center Plaza. The entire family is sure to love this immersive holiday experience.
This free event runs from sunset until 10 pm each evening until December 25th.
