Must See Summer Views & Vibes in Southern California

Summer Views Vibes Southern California

The time for summer fun has arrived, and there’s no shortage of cool things to do in LA! If you’re looking for gorgeous summer views and chill vibes, you’re in the right place. Take a look at this round-up of some of the hottest things to do around LA this summer.

Sunday Concerts in the Dome

For a truly memorable experience, you won’t want to miss the Sunday afternoon concerts held inside the dome of Mount Wilson Observatory’s 100-inch Hooker telescope. For much of the first half of the 20th century, this was the world’s largest telescope and it’s still quite a sight.
This monthly series of mountaintop jazz and classical concerts will be held at 3 pm and 5 pm on July 17th, August 7th, September 4th, and October 2nd. Tickets are $50 and include access to the exhibit at the observatory. To attend, you’ll need to be able to climb the 53 steps to the dome, and it’s important to note that kids under the age of 12 are prohibited.

Off the 405

The Getty Center’s “Off the 405” concert series offers you the chance to listen to the sounds of up-and-coming bands while enjoying the backdrop of stunning architecture and breathtaking hilltop sunset views. Upcoming shows are scheduled for July 9th, July 23rd, and August 27th.
Each concert is held in the museum courtyard and begins with a DJ set at 6 pm and a performance at 7:30 pm. Entrance is free, but tickets are required. Plan to arrive early so you can avoid traffic and beat the crowds. This will also give you a chance to check out the exhibits, which stay open until 8 pm during the summer months.

Street Food Cinema

A fun twist on dinner and a movie, Street Food Cinema hosts a series of outdoor events throughout the summer. It’s southern California’s largest outdoor movie series, combining popular films with live music, street food, audience games, and more.
In July, you’ll be able to catch films like A League of Their Own, The Avengers, The Sandlot, Top Gun, India Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, and more. Each event is held at a different outdoor park in the LA area, so make sure you check out the schedule and mark your calendar.

Smorgasbord LA

If you’re a foodie, you won’t want to miss Smorgasbord LA, the largest weekly open-air food market in the United States. The market is held every Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm at ROW DTLA. It’s a free event that also has a family-friendly beer garden. Smorgasbord’s events in LA and New York each attract about 50,000 attendees each weekend and feature around 100 local vendors.

Summer Happenings at The Broad

Spend your evenings at The Broad with the return of the museum’s after-hours programming. Here, you’ll find dancers, musicians, and poets performing in the outdoor plaza and indoor gallery spaces. Tickets for each event also include full access to the museum and all of its concurrent exhibits.

Splash House Summer Festival Series

Forget dusty festival grounds and disgusting porta-potties, the Splash House Summer Festival Series takes musical festivals out of the desert and brings them into some of the best poolside locations in Palm Springs.
This year, events will be held at The Saguaro, The Margaritaville, and The Renaissance. Each resort will be hosting a poolside stage and parties that extend to balconies and rooms. The final two events of the summer will be held from August 12th through 14th and August 19th through 21st.

The OC Fair

From carnival attractions and fried food to demolition derbies and rodeos, there’s something for everyone at the OC County Fair. What once started as a quaint local attraction all the way back in 1889, the fair has now grown into a nearly month-long event. This year, it runs from July 15th through August 14th.
You’ll have the chance to see tons of live music at the 2022 Toyota Summer Concert Series at the Pacific Amphitheater. There are also concerts in The Hangar and Monster Trucks, Motocross, and more in the Action Sports Arena. Advance tickets are required, so make sure you plan ahead to avoid missing out on any of the fun.
