The Ultimate Guide to Enjoying Summer in Los Angeles in your BMW

Summer Los Angeles

There’s never a shortage of things to do in LA, and summertime brings even more fun! It’s time to get out of the house and start enjoying life again, so start making plans to hop in your BMW and head out to one (or more!) of these awesome events and attractions.

Melrose Rooftop Theater

Nestled in the heart of West Hollywood, you’ll find one of the most unique outdoor cinema experiences. The Melrose Rooftop Theater shows both new releases and cult classics like Dirty Dancing, The Goonies, The Big Lebowski, and more. Each ticket comes with individual headphones to optimize your viewing experience. You can also arrive early to enjoy the pre-theater diner menu. It includes starters, an entree, and a delicious dessert for just $49 a person.

FivePoint Amphitheater

Orange County’s newest home for live music under the stars, FivePoint Amphitheater is hosting a ton of amazing concerts this summer! The lineup includes popular tours like the upcoming July 4th Elton John Tribute, Fishfest 2021, the Dierks Bentley: Beers On Me Tour, Rise Against Nowhere Generation Tour, and more!

Hollywood Forever Cemetery

You might not think of a cemetery as one of the hottest spots for summer fun — but you would be wrong! The Hollywood Forever Cemetery hosts a variety of outdoor movie screenings all summer long. This year, you can head over to enjoy cult classics including Silence of the Lambs, The Addams Family, Pulp Fiction, and more. Thousands of people gather here each weekend to enjoy watching movies, so grab your blanket and some snacks and join them! This large, open-air venue is sure to become one of your favorite places to spend your summer evenings.

Los Angeles Convention Center

If you want to get away from the summer heat, consider heading over to the Los Angeles Convention Center to catch a Los Angeles Sparks game. Not your style? No problem! You can also check out the LA Art Show from July 29th to August 1st or the Horror Tattoo Expo from August 20th through the 22nd. The LA Art Show will feature over 20,000 works of art! This event attracts approximately 70,000 visitors and is one of the most popular area art festivals. The Horror Tattoo Expo will feature up to 300 of the country’s top tattoo artists who will be doing tattooing and piercing on-site. This three-day festival will also feature over 20 tattoo contests and horror-themed haunted events.

Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival

The Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival is the country’s longest continually running summer music festival with no admission charge. Performances are scheduled at 8 pm every Tuesday and Friday through August 13th. While the season started online, the concerts are now live and in-person. Some of the upcoming performances include Pacific Mambo Orchestra and The Sweet Caroline Tour Starring Jay White (A Neil Diamond Tribute Experience). Later in the summer, you can also catch Sail On: The Beach Boys Tribute, The Electric Violin Twins, and more.

Art Festivals in Laguna Beach

Every summer, hordes of visitors descend on Laguna Beach for their annual art festivals. The Festival of Arts runs from July 5th through September 3rd. It will feature over 100 artists, live music, and hands-on art demonstrations. The Sawdust Art Festival features works by over 200 local artists while the Laguna Art-A-Fair is a juried competition featuring more than 100 artists from around the globe. Both of these festivals will run from July 2nd through September 5th. Plant to visit one or all of them — you’ll be glad you did!

Hiking Throughout LA

Want to get out and really enjoy LA’s natural beauty? Plan some summer hikes! The Griffith Park Trails are a great place to start. The Bronson Canyon trail is less than a mile roundtrip and will allow you to get a look at the “Bronson Cave.” This 50-foot long tunnel, which is actually the remnants of an old quarry, was most famously used as the mouth of the Batcave in the 1960 TV series Batman.
The two-mile Brush Canyon Trail is another beginner-friendly trail. It offers a peaceful hike and spectacular views near Mount Hollywood Drive. Once you’ve mastered these, you may also want to check out Will Rogers State Park, Topanga State Park, Solstice Canyon, and the Vasquez Rocks. Start knocking these out now and you’ll have conquered them all by the time summer is done.
