BMW Innovation: Introducing the 2018 BMW X2 Crossover

Just when you thought you can’t top perfection, BMW manages to do it with their 2018 BMW X2 Crossover. The sporty X models are spacious, aerodynamic, and powerful. And, oh yeah, they’re jaw-dropping, head-turning gorgeous. The HAUS Santa Monica’s trusted BMW Repair Shops breaks down all the amazing features of the 2018 BMW X2 Crossover.

It’s not just what’s on the outside that counts…

With its racy coup-like silhouette, this unconventional X model has an artistically-shaped front “kidney” grille, combined with an iconic BMW logo on the C-pillar – enough to make this BMW a head-turner; yet BMW once again goes above and beyond. Its rear LED lights are distinctive, and its extroverted dual 90mm exhaust tips add just enough flair to the sportiness of the X2. The M Sport X design has contrasting frozen grey trim on the rocker panel and is available with a way-cool M-specific spoiler.

…the inside matters, too

2018 X2’s center console, dashboard, switchgear, and iDrive display are all thoughtfully positioned and look similar to the X1’s. As a subcompact crossover, the X2 offers plenty of room for you and your front-seat passenger. The backset also offers comfortable seating, and there’s even extra storage space under a floor panel in addition to its standard cargo space. It comes with automatic climate control so everyone will be comfortable at all times. The 10-way power driver’s seat offers so many seating options that you can set it for multiple drivers (though chances are pretty high you will be the only one driving it!) Its faux-leather upholstery is fast becoming a popular choice for luxury car owners who don’t want to feel a pang of guilt for having authentic leather seating. The X2’s interior also includes a push-button start, cool rain-sensing windshield wipers, a convenient rearview camera, and a sharp audio system that includes iDrive, Bluetooth, USB, Aux inputs, a touch-screen/knob-based control system, and – of course – plenty of airbags.

It comes with all you need, and offers all you want

The X2 comes with lots of impressive standard equipment, including: front-wheel drive, an 8-speed automatic transmission, stability control, and a power tailgate. Want more? Of course, BMW offers many options and upgrades for those who plan to drive their BMW on a regular basis (and want to enjoy every moment of every drive with every convenience and luxury imaginable). In place of the front-wheel drive, you can opt for the all-wheel drive. Other options include a head-up display, a navigation with real-time traffic info, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, wireless charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a Harman Kardon audio system, Apple CarPlay, parking sensors, and active cruise control. You can also choose between the X2’s standard design level and the way-sportier M Sport X Design which comes with a lot more equipment. In fact, if you decide on the sport version, you can then get the Convenience Tier option package. This comes with power-folding outside mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless entry, and a much-needed panoramic sunroof.

The heart of it all

The 2018 BMW X2 has a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, 228 horsepower, and 258 lb-ft of torque. Whether you opt for the front-wheel drive or the all-wheel drive, the BMW X2’s powerful engine will still launch you to 60 mph from a complete stop in just over 6 seconds! For this model, BMW opted to replace the electronic gear selection found in other models with the standard PRNDL shift lever. Though you’ll want to quench its thirst with premium fuel, you’ll get up to 31 mpg on the highway.
