Malibu’s Most Wanted Summer Hotspots

When the temperatures start to rise, few things are better than hopping in your BMW or Mini and taking off on an adventure. When you’re in the mood for some exciting fun in the sun, there’s certainly no shortage of things to do in Malibu. Here are a few of our favorite summertime hotspots.

Malibu Wine Safari

Where can you drink wine, take in gorgeous scenery, and even see a giraffe? The Malibu Wine Safari! You’ll begin your exciting adventure by boarding open-air safari vehicles and heading out to explore the 1,000-acre Saddlerock Ranch. Along the way, you’ll taste a wide variety of wines sourced from local vineyards and get up-close and personal with interesting animals including camels, zebras, bison, alpacas and, of course, Stanley the Giraffe. This awesome experience is truly a one-of-a-kind way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You won’t believe that you’re only 30 minutes from L.A.!

Malibu Bluffs Park

If you enjoy hiking and running, you’ll love spending time at Malibu Bluffs Park. This six-acre community park is located at the intersection of Malibu Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway. It offers visitors one of the most beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. The park also features amenities like a baseball diamond, soccer fields, picnic tables, and a playground. If you have some time to spare, consider packing up some lunch and bringing the whole family for a day of outdoor fun.

El Matador State Beach

Located 10 miles west of Malibu on Highway 1, El Matador State Beach offers breathtaking views that you won’t soon forget. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, as you’ll need to climb down some steep stairs to reach the beach. If you can catch it at the right time, this location offers the ultimate in serenity and solitude. Plan to bring a blanket, a picnic lunch, and your camera. If you can stick around until evening arrives, you won’t regret it. The rock formations here help to create absolutely stunning sunset photos.

Malibu Lagoon State Beach

Malibu Lagoon State Beach offers visitors a wide variety of things to do. If you like to relax and enjoy the scenery, plan to pack a picnic lunch and spend your day at the lagoon. Otherwise, take a stroll and go surfing at Surfrider Beach or visit the Malibu Pier for saltwater fishing or whale watching. While you’re there, take in some local history at the nearby Adamson House and the Malibu Lagoon Museum. Nature lovers will also enjoy the guided seasonal tours designed to explore the area’s wetlands, tidepools, and more.

Malibu Stars’ Homes Tour

No matter how long you’ve lived in the area, it’s always fun to explore Malibu like a tourist, and there’s no better way to do this than on the Malibu Stars’ Home Tour. This two-hour ride on an open-top mini-bus will take you down the Pacific Coast Highway where you’ll see the sprawling properties and unbelievable homes of over 40 famous stars. You’ll also get to experience the Malibu Pier, Malibu Beach Access, and gorgeous overlooks of the Pacific Coastline. Make sure you bring your camera because they’ll be plenty of awesome photo opportunities. Who knows, you might even spot a celebrity or two!
